South London duo LV, started releasing on Kode 9’s label Hyperdub in 2007 and have since then become an integral part of the underground dance music scene coming out of London, going on to release work on labels such as Brownwood, Soul Jazz and Keysound.
Simon Williams, Will Horrocks and then third element Gervase Gordon (Okzharp) released the stellar 2011 album Routes as a meditation on inner city London life narrated by beat poet Joshua Idehen, expressing an amalgamation of a sense of ‘London underground music’ and the bipolar nuances of city living, with a uniquely funky touch unmatched before. In 2010 LV embarked on a musical trip to South Africa, to return with a single revered as one of that year’s most memorable and inventive dance music releases; ‘Boomslang’, featuring the vocalist Okmalumkoolkat with 'Sebenza' following, strengthening the South London-via-South Africa vibe as well as their distinct ability to transcend and forge new genres. Combining UK funky with South Africa's kwaito, two invigoratingly elastic dance music worlds that draw on a rich and overlapping heritage, LV proved themselves as versatile producers in their collaboration with three distinct South African acts; Spoek Mathambo, Okmalumkoolkat of the Dirty Parraffin crew & duo Ruffest, to become an influence to many European producers who followed their steps. Out of their collaboration with Josh also came the brilliant album 'Islands' with its single Imminent spreading in all corners of inner London. Having remixed the likes of Nitin Sawhney, Pinch, Zomby, Portico Quartet, etc., their collaboration with Tigran Hamasyan also won “Best Session” at Maida Vale at Worldwide Awards 2013. Poet, MC, songwriter and Benin City vocalist Josh Idehen and LV have been back in the studio preparing a new album and present their first
